In Poland and Ukraine, we have our own arable production, feed production and pig production.
Currently, we also have our own food production facility in Poland, where we manage processing all the way to finished products for retailers.
Our office in Denmark is functionally centred around support functions and allows us to be a part of Danish farming meaning that we can continue to develop and share some of the world’s most sustainable agricultural principles across the organization.
In Goodvalley, we believe it’s natural to cultivate our own land to make feed for our pig production. We always adhere to the environmental target of having a minimum of 0,7 ha. pr. productive sow. Further to that, all the nutritious feed that we produce come from our feed mills. Everything we do in Goodvalley is based on the wish to be able to ensure and document quality products for our customers. We believe quality comes from caring, why 100 % of the pigs we slaughter have been raised on our farms all the way from piglets to 30 kg weaners, and 75 % of all slaughter pigs are raised on our own finisher farms. The remaining 25 % are raised on contracted farms owned by Polish farmers, who all are following our strong guidelines for nutrition and animal welfare.
We have s strict written policy for Biosecurity in Goodvalley and the main aspects in this is policy are:
From the beginning of 2021, it is now possible for consumers who buy our products in Poland to scan a QR code and see the products’ specific journey throughout the value chain; the feed mill that has provided the feed, the farms where the pig was raised, the biogas plant that has provided green energy as well as heat for the farm and all the way to the slaughterhouse. It’s a process that has taken years to perfect and have been done in collaboration with Cloudfarms.
Every product has a unique code, so it’s not just one common journey that will be displayed, but every single product’s origin from field to fork – no matter whether it’s full cuts (like tenderloin) or processed products (like hot dogs). Just as it should be.
A commitment to climate-friendly practices is implemented in every step of our production cycle from field to fork. To limit our environmental impact, we believe in and practice our own unique, sustainable way of farming. As an example, we believe that a pig production should be supplemented with a biogas facility, to utilize the manure in the best way possible in a responsible waste management system. We aim to minimize our resource consumption pr. produced meat unit.
Compared to a world average of +5 kg CO2e per kg of pork meat, we operate at around 2,4 kg CO2e per kg meat before reductions. After reductions, we are certified as a Carbon Neutral Company by NIRAS, verified by TÜV Rheinland.
Our Polish production has been certified carbon neutral since 2013 and the entire organization since 2018. Poland remains the country of operation, where our climate-friendly production is the most integrated, where as Ukraine is still on this journey. As of 2021, we count nine biogas facilities across our countries of production, and we are planning to expand with an extra three together with external partners in the foreseeable future.
The first Goodvalley biogas plant commenced operation in Poland in 2005. Today, we have nine biogas plants with three more on the way together with external partners.
We are very proud of the fact that we produce enough green electricity and heat to power the equivalent of 12.950 households on an annual basis. When this is combined with the destruction of methane through our sustainable production methods, we reduce our emissions of CO2e with more than 200.000 tons every year.
Our mission and vision focuses on further developing and expanding this unique production model centred around sustainable food production and farming. We are constantly working towards this mission and vision by implementing the newest and most efficient ways on resource saving technologies as well as minimizing transport by keeping as big a part of the production as possible in a closed local cycle.

In Goodvalley we have our own feedmills where we prepare feed for our pigs. This way we can make sure our feed mix contains all of the natural components which are needed to keep our pigs healthy.
Our processed products are always witout any preservatives. Only by controlling all stages of the production, we can take full responsibility for the quality of our meat.
In Goodvalley we have 36.500 hectares of land. We grow our crops by using degassed manure from our biogas plants. This way we cultivate our soil while taking care of the environment. We have wheat, barley, rape, corn, rye, sunflower and soy.
Our animal welfare standards are certified by GLOBALG.A.P. (Good Agricultural Practice) and we make sure that our pigs have the necessary space, toys available and the right people, who, care for them at every stage.
In our biogas plants we use waste products from all steps of the production. This way we generate heat and energy for our units while we use the degassed minerals as a valuable fertilizer on our fields. This process makes our production less invasive towards the climate.
It is important for us to harvest our fields by ourselves. This way we can control the harvesting proces and by using modern technology and equipment our machines are less invasive and less damaging to the environment.
